First of them in the reckoning would be Dhanush’s ‘Uthamaputhiran’, which pairs him up opposite the chirpy Genelia D’Souza for the first time on-screen. The film is directed by Mitran Jawahar, who directed Dhanush in ‘Yaaradi New Mohini’ and ‘Kutti’ earlier. Aarya, who has been on a roll with successive hits in ‘Madarasapattinam’ and ‘Bass Engira Baskaran’, would be hoping to make it a ‘hat-trick’ with his ‘Chikku Bukku’ opposite hottie Shriya Saran, which is slated to release on the big day.
Diwali Special Movies Ratha Sarithiram’
Besides the above, another major release would be Suriya’s ‘Ratha Sarithiram’, directed by noted Bollywood film-maker Ram Gopal Verma, which is likely to release in its Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions on Deepavali eve.
At the same time, there is no sign of Rajini mania calm down and the good news is that it is still going strong in both India and abroad. Looking forward for the better prospect,most of the theatres in the state have increased the number shows in the second week.
It looks like Kollywood producers are going to give a clean three weeks free run to the Rajinikanth biggie as nobody wants to get hit and run over by the Endhiran force till Deepavali.
With virtually no movie getting released for the past two Fridays because of the Endhiran mania, audiences can look for some more variety in the coming months.
